This exquisite table lamp base features the iconic Pomegranate pattern, one of the most recognizable and enduring designs by William Moorcroft. The motif showcases lush, hand-painted pomegranates, some shown whole and others burst open to reveal intricate tube-lined seeds accompanied by clusters of dark berries and autumn-toned foliage. These elements are set against a deep, rich cobalt blue “salt-glaze” background that provides a dramatic, high-gloss contrast to the warm reds and ochres of the fruit. This specific baluster shape was a favorite of the Arts and Crafts period, emphasizing the organic curves of the fruit it depicts. As a lamp conversion, these pieces often feature original brass fittings and a wooden base, which were commonly used in the mid-20th century to adapt these large art pottery vases for domestic lighting.
