Victorian Cut Crystal Perfume Bottle with Sterling Silver Cap
USD $ 499.00
Date: Late Victorian to Edwardian Period (c. 1890–1910)
Medium: Cut crystal/lead glass with hallmarked sterling silver collar and hinged cap
Dimensions: 4.5 in. Height
This exquisite antique vanity perfume or scent bottle features a compact, globular clear cut crystal body deeply carved in a traditional hobnail and diamond facet pattern. The faceted lead glass reflects light brilliantly across its rounded surface, leading up to a smooth, stepped neck. The bottle is fitted with a hallmarked sterling silver collar stamped with English assay marks and topped with a spherical hinged cap finely embellished with chased floral scrollwork and foliate motifs. The clear glass body is complemented by descriptions of the silver hues which contain patina and warm tarnishing along the collar.
Designed for an elegant late 19th or early 20th-century dressing table or vanity tray, small-scale sterling silver-mounted scent bottles remain highly collectible.
